GROSSET-JANIN EAGER TO EXTEND EURO RX LEAD

The FIA European Rallycross Championship returns to the World RX schedule in Norway this weekend, where France’s Jerome Grosset-Janin currently leads the standings by two points.

The Albatec Racing driver competed at he event last season and showed good pace, but suffered from engine problems. He hopes that his experience in Hell in 2014 will help him this weekend. “I hope to have the same pace as I had last year (this weekend). The engine issue I had was not on my side, but what was good is that I was feeling good and I pretty well appreciate the difficulties of the track. Last year I had a good rhythm and feeling,” said the Grosset-Janin. “It’s a proper rallycross track in Hell - it’s interesting and exciting. It’s a bit like the Faleyras track in France, with the kind of different rhythms you have to find to be fast. Sometimes you have to be really fast and sometimes you have to retain things and be patient. I feel good with this.”

Last week, Albatec Racing tested in France for three days, where Grosset-Janin joined Yvan Muller - who will race for the team at Loheac, Kristian Sohlberg – who will race for the team in Turkey and fellow Euro RX driver James Grint. “I did about 20 laps, just to double check some things we have tried to improve. It was good to get behind the wheel and be with the team. It was really good to work with Yvan and Kristian because they have a new vision for rallycross. Yvan is from a manufacturer team - he knows very well how to work and increase performance each time he is behind the wheel. It was very good to work with him.”

The Frenchman is hoping for four clean heats this weekend before deciding whether to drive with championship points in mind in the semi-finals and final, or push for victory. “I will try to do the heats and then when we are in the semi-final we can start to plan the races. It’s important to have four beautiful heats to get into the semi-final, which is not easy.”
