KEN BLOCK READY FOR COTA'S FIRST RALLYCROSS EVENT
The first ever rallycross event at the Circuit of The Americas' new permanent rallycross facility in Austin, Texas will take place later today as the second round of Americas Rallycross is held at the US Formula 1 venue.
ARX joined the FIA World Rallycross Championship for its maiden event at the Speedmachine Festival in the UK in May, and is gearing up to race on COTA’s new rallycross track for the first time, ahead of World RX’s US debut in September (28 – 30).
World RX podium finisher Ken Block makes his return to rallycross this weekend in ARX driving the Ford Focus RS RX he raced in World RX last season, joining former World RX race winner Tanner Foust and regular 2018 World RX driver Oliver Bennett on the COTA grid. “We did a good test here a couple of weeks ago and I’m pretty confident, more confident than I have been in the last two years actually,” said Block. “Steve Arpin’s team has been able to fix some stuff on the car that we were really been struggling with for the last couple of years in World RX. The test went better than I actually imagined, the car just handles way closer to what the Fiesta did before, so I’m really stoked to get in and race this weekend because I feel like I have a car beneath me that feels a lot more to what I’m used to. The future’s bright with this car, I’m stoked.”
Block is competing in a mixed calendar this season of rallycross and rally. Beginning his rallycross season by racing in ARX at COTA today and in Canada next month, Block will join the World RX field when COTA hosts its second rallycross event in September. “I think it’s going to be great to have World RX here,” he said. “We’ve had the race up in Canada for several years now but to actually come down here and be at COTA is going to be great. I’m looking forward to seeing all those guys coming to town and to actually have my home race now available here in Texas, it’s going to be very cool.”Share this story on facebook Share this story on Twitter
